About The Conferences
The 8th International Conference of Jabodetabek Study Forum (JSF) 2026 is an international forum organized by the Center for Regional Systems Analysis, Planning and Development (P4W), IPB University, in collaboration with the Center for Infrastructure and Regional Research, Bandung Institute of Technology (PPIW-ITB). The conference brings together scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss key challenges and opportunities related to mega-urbanization in the Global South.
Focusing on the Jabodetabek Metropolitan Region as a strategic case study, JSF 2026 promotes interdisciplinary dialogue on metropolitan governance, urban sustainability, mobility, housing, urban economy, social equity, and the implications of Indonesia’s capital city relocation. The conference supports IPB University’s EQUITY agenda and aims to strengthen international collaboration while contributing to sustainable and resilient urban development.
Mega-urbanization in the Global South is occurring at an unprecedented pace, bringing complex environmental, social, economic, and governance challenges that demand active university engagement in knowledge generation and policy innovation. The Jabodetabek Metropolitan Region, with over 30 million residents, represents a critical case study for sustainable mega-urban development, making it an ideal focus for this international conference. As a research-based institution with expertise in regional planning and sustainable development, IPB University is strategically positioned to lead this discourse. This conference directly supports the EQUITY agenda by strengthening international networks, enhancing research quality, and increasing IPB University's global visibility. By bringing together academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to address metropolitan governance, environmental sustainability, transportation, housing, and social equity, the conference will generate approximately 50 publications in reputable journals while advancing knowledge and policy frameworks for resilient mega-urbanization in developing countries.
